Changing your TCGplayer password doesn’t break anything permanently, but it does end your agent’s current session — here’s what to expect and what to do.

What happens when you change your TCGplayer password

Hoard never stores your TCGplayer password. Your agent logs into TCGplayer through a real browser window, and the resulting session cookie is kept only in memory for as long as the agent process runs — it’s never written to disk and TCGplayer’s “Remember Me” doesn’t change that. As soon as you change your password on TCGplayer’s side, that in-memory session becomes invalid. On the agent’s next cycle, it detects the dead session and opens a fresh TCGplayer login window automatically, the same window it uses for any first-time or expired login. You’ll need to sign in once with your new password.

What to do

  1. Change your password on TCGplayer as normal — nothing on the Hoard side needs to happen first.
  2. Let your agent’s next cycle run, or click Sync Now on your dashboard to trigger it immediately.
  3. Log in when the window appears. A Chrome window will open to TCGplayer’s login page with your new password required. Complete any CAPTCHA if one shows up.
  4. That’s it — no settings to update, no re-authorization with Hoard. Sync resumes normally after that login.

Nothing else needs to change

You don’t need to update any settings in Hoard, re-authorize your account, or generate a new API key just because your TCGplayer password changed. The password itself lives entirely on TCGplayer’s side; Hoard’s agent just needs a fresh browser login to pick up the new session.

If the window doesn’t appear

If your dashboard shows the agent stuck rather than prompting a new login, see agent stuck on “awaiting login” — it covers the case where a login window is open but not being detected.

Rotating your Hoard API key

This page covers the TCGplayer side only. If you’re instead rotating the Hoard bearer key your standalone CLI agent uses, that’s a separate process with its own key-management flow in Hoard’s settings — see rotating your Hoard bearer key. The two rotations don’t affect each other: changing your TCGplayer password doesn’t touch your Hoard API key, and rotating your Hoard API key doesn’t touch your TCGplayer session.
