Hoard Desktop’s signed Mac installer is notarized by Apple. It does not require xattr, chmod, Terminal, or changing your security settings.

Install the signed app

  1. Download the signed Mac installer. It works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. Open the DMG and drag Hoard Desktop to Applications.
  3. Open the app from Applications, then eject the disk image.
macOS may ask whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Choose Open for the Hoard download you just installed.

If you downloaded an older standalone file

A file named hoard-desktop rather than Hoard-<version>.dmg is the older installation format. Quit that copy and install the signed app above. Your existing account configuration stays on your computer; you do not need to delete it.

If the signed app is still blocked

Download a fresh copy from the link above and install it again. If macOS reports that the app is damaged, its developer cannot be verified, or it contains malware, do not bypass that warning. Contact Hoard support with the exact message and your macOS version.

Standalone command-line agent

The signed Desktop installer and the standalone hoard-agent binary are different downloads. For an intentional command-line setup, follow Hoard Agent Setup.
