Once Hoard is connected to Claude, you can ask things like “what are my top movers today?” or “tighten my Modern pricing rules” and Claude will look up the answer (or make the change) using your real Hoard data.

What you’ll need

This guide uses Hoard’s hosted, remote MCP server. It works in Claude.ai and Claude Desktop. It is not the separate local-MCP setup in Claude Desktop, and it does not require you to install a server or paste an API key on your computer. Custom remote connectors are available on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans; Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner must add the connector before members can connect their Hoard account.

Steps

Open Claude's connector settings

In Claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. On Team or Enterprise, ask an owner to add Hoard in Organization settings → Connectors first.

Paste the Hoard MCP URL

Paste this URL into the connector field:
Give it a name like “Hoard” and click Connect.

Sign in to Hoard

Claude will pop open a Hoard sign-in window. Sign in like you normally would, then click Allow on the consent screen.You’re not pasting an API key — Claude and Hoard handle the handshake via OAuth. The connection is scoped to your account and you can revoke it any time from Settings → Assistants.

Try it out

Back in Claude, ask:
“What are my top 5 movers in Magic right now?”
Claude will use Hoard’s tools to read the store data Hoard has synced for your account. Check sync health before acting on a recent result.

What Claude can do

Claude can use Hoard to:
  • Look up inventory, prices, and individual cards
  • Show top movers, sleepers, and recent sales
  • Read pricing rules and propose changes
  • Preview a repricing run before you commit it
  • Trigger an inventory sync
  • Read orders, refunds, and customer data
  • Edit a single pricing rule through a preview→confirm→commit flow (with your permission)

When Claude wants to change something

Read-only questions (“what’s my inventory value”, “show me movers”) return data instantly with no extra steps. Write actions do not all share one confirmation flow. For a pricing-rule change, Claude prepares a proposal and Hoard shows you the rules, scope, impact, and warnings. You approve it in Hoard before that rule change applies. Some other allowed writes, such as starting a pull session, triggering a sync, or accepting certain Smart Actions, take effect when the assistant runs them. Review what you are granting in Settings → Assistants and read What your AI assistant can do before asking Claude to act. Hoard also applies server-side pricing safeguards. They do not replace your decision about the minimum price you are willing to accept; set your account floor in Hoard’s pricing settings. See Agent permissions and safety for the permission model.

Revoking access

Open Settings → Assistants in Hoard. Click Revoke next to Claude. Claude immediately loses access — it can’t refresh its way back in.

Troubleshooting

I’m following a Claude Desktop local-MCP guide Don’t use a claude_desktop_config.json or localhost setup for Hoard. This is a remote connector: paste the hosted https://mcp.tryhoard.com/mcp URL in Claude’s connector settings. Claude reaches remote connectors from Anthropic’s cloud, so a local-only or private-network URL will not work in Claude.ai. Claude says “Connector failed to connect” Make sure you pasted https://mcp.tryhoard.com/mcp exactly, including the trailing /mcp. Sign-in window flashes and closes Disable popup blockers for claude.ai, then try again. Claude can’t see my inventory You’re signed into Claude and Hoard with different email accounts? The connection is scoped to whichever Hoard account approved it. Reconnect with the right account.
