An employee can sign in with Google instead of a password. Google and Discord are the only social sign-ins Hoard supports. There is no Microsoft, Apple, or SAML option, and you cannot limit sign-in to a Google Workspace domain. For the owner’s own login, see Sign in with Google or Discord.

Accept the invite with Google

  1. Open the invite email and click the link.
  2. On the Join page, click Continue with Google and pick the Google account.
  3. Back on the invite page, click Accept invitation.
The Google account needs a verified email that matches the address you invited. If it doesn’t, Hoard shows “Use the email address this invitation was sent to.” and connects nothing. Clicking Continue with Google doesn’t accept the invite on its own. If a different Google account keeps coming up, try a private window.

Connect Google later

An employee who joined with a password can add Google from their own login.
  1. Click Your account in the Collect header.
  2. Under Sign in with Google or Discord, click Connect Google.
  3. Pick the Google account.
Hoard shows “Google connected.” and emails the employee about the new connection. This time the Google email doesn’t have to match the login email, but it does have to be verified. If it isn’t, Hoard says “We need a verified email before connecting Google.” One Google account can belong to one person only. You can’t connect Google for an employee. They do it while signed in.

Signing in

Continue with Google only works once the account is connected. If an unknown Google account tries it, Hoard doesn’t create staff access. It sends the person to magic-link sign-in with “For your safety, sign in with email first, then connect this account in settings.”

Disconnect Google

In Your account, click Disconnect next to Google. The button is greyed out until the employee has a password or another connected account. For expired invites, resending, and disabling access, see Invite an employee. Roles and permissions are in Team and employee logins.
