Before an automated price push ships, Hoard checks whether the batch is unusually large for your store. If it is, the push pauses and waits for you to approve it, so a sync glitch or a market-wide swing can’t silently ship a giant change while you’re not looking.

Why this happens

A batch is held if it trips any one of three checks: the percentage of your inventory being touched, the total dollar magnitude of the changes, or the number of cards moving more than 10% in one push. The exact numbers scale with your store — a bigger book gets a bigger allowance — and you can raise or lower them yourself in Settings > Repricing > Auto-push safety. Increases and decreases are judged separately. If your batch is mostly small increases with a handful of large decreases, only the decreases pause — the increases still go out on schedule. The banner and email tell you which half, if any, is held.

Step 1: Look at the dashboard banner

When a batch is held, a banner appears above your Cards table. It shows the figures that tripped the hold — cards affected, dollar magnitude, count of large swings — and whether it’s the whole batch, just increases, or just decreases.

Step 2: Review before approving

The banner links to the relevant view of your Cards table so you can spot-check what’s about to change before you approve it. If something looks wrong, it’s worth checking a few of the affected cards’ pricing breakdowns (Test a card on Settings > Rules) rather than approving blind.

Step 3: Approve

Click Approve batch (or Approve increases / Approve decreases if only one half is held). This queues the held prices for push. Approving doesn’t clear the hold immediately — it waits for your desktop agent to actually push the prices, and the banner shows “Approved — waiting for your desktop agent to push these prices” in the meantime.

Step 4: Confirm it cleared

Once your agent completes the push, the banner disappears (or, for a partial hold, updates to reflect only the still-held half). If the agent is offline or the task stalls, the banner stays up — check that your desktop agent is running and connected.

Adjusting your thresholds

If you’re seeing this hold regularly because your store legitimately moves a lot of price on a normal day, raise the thresholds in Settings > Repricing > Auto-push safety rather than approving every batch by hand. The defaults already scale with your store’s listed value and card count, but you can override any of the three numbers directly. You’ll generally get one email per held batch — later syncs during the same hold just refresh the numbers on the banner, not a fresh email each time. You’ll get a second email only if the hold switches which half is affected (say, decreases clear but increases then trip a threshold). This is a batch-level check, separate from per-card protected-decrease holds, which pause individual cards you’ve priced above market. See how Hoard keeps automated pricing safe for the trust model behind both.
