# How to Price Graded Cards on TCGplayer

> Turn on grade-aware pricing in Hoard so PSA and BGS graded cards price off graded sales data instead of raw-card market price.

Ordinary TCGplayer market price is a raw-card number, so a card priced automatically off it can end up badly mispriced once it's graded. Hoard can price Pokemon graded cards off PriceCharting's condition-to-grade sales data instead, so a card listed as Near Mint prices closer to what a PSA 9 actually sells for.

## What this covers

Grade-aware pricing is Pokemon-only right now. The condition-to-grade mapping and the underlying eBay sales data are calibrated to how Pokemon cards are graded and sold; other games use different grading vocabularies (CGC, BGS) that don't map cleanly onto the same data yet.

## Step 1: Open Settings > Pricing

Go to **Settings > Pricing** and find the PriceCharting / grade pricing option.

## Step 2: Turn on grade-aware pricing

Enable the setting that replaces market price with PriceCharting's grade price for Pokemon cards. This changes the base price Hoard prices from (Layer 1 of the pricing formula) — every other layer, including your multiplier, floor, and change caps, still applies on top of it as normal.

## Step 3: Understand the condition mapping

Your listing's condition determines which grade's price Hoard uses:

| Your listed condition | Priced off |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| Near Mint | PSA 9 |
| Lightly Played | PSA 8 |
| Moderately Played | PSA 7 |
| Heavily Played | Ungraded |
| Damaged | No override — falls back to TCGplayer market |

Variant details like "1st Edition" or "Holofoil" in the condition string don't affect the mapping — they're stripped out before it's applied.

## Step 4: Optionally set a per-rule PriceCharting floor

If you use the Rules wizard, you can additionally set "Never price below grade value" on a specific rule. That treats the PriceCharting grade price as a minimum floor for the cards that rule matches, independent of which price source the rule otherwise uses.

## Step 5: Confirm it took effect

Check the card detail panel for a "View on PriceCharting" link — it only appears when Hoard has matching grade data for that card. Run **Update Prices** or wait for the next sync, then use **Test a card** on Settings > Rules to see the pricing breakdown and confirm the PriceCharting price was used as the base.

## If a card isn't picking up grade pricing

Confirm the card is Pokemon — other product lines are deliberately excluded from the override, even with the setting on. If it's Pokemon and still not matching, PriceCharting's catalog may not have that specific card yet; Hoard still imports the data it has for evidence display even when it can't use it as the pricing base.
