# How to tell if a card just got bought out

> See why a card's tcgplayer price jumped overnight and whether the listings actually cleared, using Hoard's BOUGHT OUT badge.

A card's price can jump for a lot of reasons, but one specific pattern — buyers clearing out the listings — has its own signal in Hoard. Here's how to tell if that's what happened.

## Check for the BOUGHT OUT badge

Open the [Movers](/how-to/find-todays-market-movers) tab, or the card's own detail panel. A row that just got bought out carries a badge like:

**`BOUGHT OUT · 2H AGO`**

This means buyers just cleared the listings for this card, and the price is moving right now. The badge always reflects the market at that moment, with its own timestamp — it isn't tied to whatever time window you're viewing, so you'll see it on a 30-day view even if the buy-out happened this morning. The top-mover hero card and the spike strip carry the same badge next to the card's name. Hover it for the one-line explanation.

## Why this matters beyond "the price went up"

A buy-out means real supply cleared, not just that the last listing ticked up. If you own the card, Hoard's repricing engine already treats a buy-out differently: it won't blindly reprice into a market that's actively moving, and if it holds back a change on the card, you'll see a **Price change held** note in "Why this price?" explaining why.

## If you own it: check Today

When a card you own gets bought out and Hoard held a price change on it, an action appears at the top of your **Today** tab with two one-tap responses:

* **Raise to \$X** — the safer move, anchored to what the card has actually been selling for.
* **Ask \$Y** — match what the remaining sellers are asking, a more aggressive bet that the spike holds.

Either choice sets the new price and locks it, so the next sync's market data — which may still reflect the pre-buy-out market — can't drag your price back down while things settle.

## If you don't own it yet

A bought-out card with few copies listed can be a spike that fades once new listings show up, or the start of a real trend. See [tell if a price spike will last](/how-to/tell-if-a-price-spike-will-last) before you chase it, and check the listing count with [how many copies are listed](/how-to/see-how-many-copies-are-listed).
