# How to check Japanese Pokemon card prices

> Find reliable pricing for Japanese Pokemon cards, a game tcgplayer barely covers, using Hoard's PriceCharting data.

TCGplayer's own market price data for Japanese Pokemon singles is thin — a lot of these cards don't have a reliable TCGplayer market price to read. Hoard covers this gap with PriceCharting's eBay sold data, which explicitly includes Pokemon Japan as its own supported game, not just mainline Pokemon.

## Where to look

Pokemon Japan is its own tracked game in Hoard, separate from Pokemon. You can browse its market data the same way as any other game:

* **Public market pages** — go to `tryhoard.com/market`, and look for Pokemon Japan among the tracked games, or go directly to its set and card pages. No account needed.
* **In your own inventory** — if you sell Pokemon Japan singles, open a card in your Cards tab to see its pricing breakdown and, where PriceCharting has data, its grade-price ladder.

## Why PriceCharting instead of TCGplayer here

Hoard's PriceCharting integration imports weekly bulk data covering Pokemon cards with grade-level pricing (Ungraded through PSA 10 and BGS 10). The pricing-override pin that lets PriceCharting data actually set your listing prices — rather than just being shown for reference — explicitly includes Pokemon Japan alongside Pokemon. Both games use the same condition-to-grade mapping:

| Near Mint         | PSA 9                                   |
| Lightly Played    | PSA 8                                   |
| Moderately Played | PSA 7                                   |
| Heavily Played    | Ungraded                                |
| Damaged           | Falls back to your regular price source |

Other games — Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana, and so on — don't get this override. PriceCharting's grade nomenclature and condition mapping are calibrated to how Pokemon and Pokemon Japan listings are actually written and graded, so the override is scoped narrowly by design rather than applied everywhere.

## If you want it driving your prices, not just showing it

If you sell Pokemon Japan and want your listings priced off this data instead of TCGplayer's thin market numbers, pick **PriceCharting Grade** as your price source in **Settings → Repricing**, or turn on **Grade floor** on a pricing rule scoped to `game:pokemon_japan` so the grade price acts as a minimum instead of replacing your normal source entirely.
