# How to add foil and non-foil versions of the same card in Quick Add

> How Hoard tells foil and non-foil Magic cards apart in Quick Add, and how to add both without them colliding in your inventory.

If you've got a foil and a non-foil copy of the same Magic card to add by hand, Quick Add keeps them separate automatically. Here's how it works and what to do to add both.

## The foil toggle (Magic only)

When you're adding a Magic card, look for the foil toggle on the card tile or in the add flow. Tap it before clicking the card to mark that copy as foil instead of non-foil.

The toggle only shows up for Magic. Other games — Pokemon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, and the rest — don't need it, because their catalogs already list foil variants as their own separate products with their own set and number, so you pick the right one directly from the set browser instead of toggling a finish.

## Adding both

Toggle the foil switch off, click the card to add the non-foil copy. Toggle it on, click the same card again to add the foil copy. Both show up as separate rows in your picks sidebar with their own condition and quantity — they don't merge into one entry, and adding one doesn't overwrite the other.

## Why they don't collide

Under the hood, Hoard gives foil and non-foil copies of the same card distinct identities so they can both exist in your inventory at once, each tracked and priced independently. You don't need to do anything about this — it's automatic — but it's worth knowing if a foil and non-foil of the same card ever look like they should have merged and didn't: that's expected, not a bug.

## They price separately too

Foil and non-foil prices come from different market data, so once these cards are in your inventory, they reprice independently using their own foil or non-foil market price. A foil copy holding a different price than its non-foil counterpart of the same card is expected, not an error.
